MassTrails Grant Program

Description

The MassTrails Grant Program funds development, design, engineering, permitting, construction and maintenance of recreational trail and shared use pathways.

Eligibility & Requirements

Priority is given to projects that demonstrate regionally significant network connections. Projects must document landowner permission and community support for consideration. Requires 20% matching funds. Projects with higher match are prioritized. This is a reimbursable grant. Projects costs are paid by the grantee and then submitted for reimbursement.

Awards

Awards are typically between $5,000 and $100,000 with a maximum $300,000 possible. The CT River Paddler’s Trail received a MassTrails grant for improvements to campsites along the trail.
